It is named in honor of David Crockett (1786-1836), frontier humorist, soldier, Tennessee state legislator and U.S. congressman, and defender of the Alamo. Its county seat is Alamo.
Beginning in 1991 with a donated country store and an 1840-era log house, Green Frog has grown to include all the elements of a rural southern village. From the simple pioneer homestead to a country church and blacksmith's shop, you can enjoy West Tennessee history in a beautiful pastoral setting.
Davy Crockett Lake: Located in Gadsden, you can enjoy fishing, boating, and picnicking at David Crockett Lake. The lake covers 87 acres in the eastern part of the county.
Safari Park is a walk-thru zoo and drive-thru park, given as a land grant by President Andrew Jackson to the Conley family in settlement of the South. Hillcrest began in the 1860's as an agricultural farm and continues to produce cotton today. There are over 60 species of animals to see.
