The county is located in southern Tennessee with the county seat at Jasper. It is nestled between the Tennessee River and beautiful mountain ranges just 25 miles west of Chattanooga and 100 miles southeast of Nashville. The National Cornbread Festival attracts people from all over the world.
There is more to Marion County than is readily apparent with a casual drive through the valley. Excellent views of beautiful mountains, picturesque Nickajack Lake, the Tennessee River Gorge which runs for miles along Hwy 41 and some of the most interesting old bridges in the south. But when you have had enough driving, fishing, skiing, caving, birding, four wheeling, camping, bouldering and hiking you may want to
look a little deeper for some other "finer things of life" the area has to offer.
Clayton's Pickin' Barn, listed on the Music Trail, in New Hope provides a place to listen to and join in on some Bluegrass music every 4th Saturday of each month. You can catch the annual Tri-State Bluegrass Festival in New Hope in September.
Right at the edge of Jasper is the annual Fall Color Cruise. Hales Bar Marina offers camping, boat rentals and much more. It is hard to avoid the water with Nickajack Lake covering over 10,000 acres and providing 200+ miles of shoreline.
